With the opening of Tavola Italian Restaurant, Portsmouth, New Hampshire becomes home to great Italian food in the new eatery opened by proprietor Aaron Jones, longtime Portsmouth restauranteur and the local resident. Jones also owns the successful and award-winning Mojo’s Barbecue Grill which is located next door.
The Portsmouth restaurant located at 95 Brewery Lane will also serve the entire seacoast region including the nearby communities of Rye, North Hampton, Stratham, Newmarket, Durham, Hampton, Dover, Exeter, Lee, Seabrook, and Somersworth.
Tavola Italian Restaurant will feature a full and creative menu with favorites and classics in addition to Italian nouveau cuisine.
Tavola, which owner Jones describes as a “neighborhood Italian eatery” will serve freshly prepared antipasti, pizza, salads, pasta, and Tavola classics including Haddock & Lobster made with shallots, corn, bacon, cream, and a light crumb topping; Saltimbocca, made with chicken, egg plant or veal, white wine, garlic, mushrooms, baby spinach, and prosciutto; Steak & Potato Pizzaiola handcrafted with sliced teres major stea cooked to order, roasted red potatoes, tomatoes, vegetables, and Tavola’s signature marinara.
Tavola’s Classics menu will also feature Trattoria Steak with smoked vegetable hash and potato lasagna. The Tavola Marsala is sure to please and can be made with chicken, egg plant, or veal, prepared with Tavola’s special Marsala wine, garlic and mushrooms.
Tavola Italian Restaurant’s Pork Porterhouse with demi-sauce, Gorgonzola, and caramelized pear will no doubt be a favorite with both locals and the areas many tourists. Rounding out Tavola’s Classics is the Picatta in chicken, eggplant, or veal.
Pasta lovers in the nations third oldest city will have a wide selection of traditional favorites to choose from including Spaghetti & Meatballs, the chef’s special Chicken & Broccoli Rabe Alfredo with orecchiette, Parmesan, and cracked black pepper. Portsmouth traditionalists will rave over the Carbonara, lovingly crafted with bucatini, pancetta, prosciutto, bacon, and cream.
Diners in Portsmouth, which served as the focal point on the eastern seaboard until the late 1800s when rail travel eclipsed the shipping industry, can enjoy Tavola’s Prosciutto & Cheese Ravioli. Seafood lovers accustomed to the rich fare available at the mouth of the Piscataqua River will not be disappointed with the Shrimp Puttanesca made with tomato, capers, Kalamata olives, and Tavola’s highly guarded combination of fresh herbs.
The seacoast’s pizza lovers will find a refreshing trove of distinctive pies including Margherita, Asparagus & Mushroom, Sausage & Peppers, and D’ Parma with fontina, prosciutto, balsamic, and arugula.
